Polynucleotides are a type of injectable bio-stimulator that consist of stretchy molecules crafted from fragments of DNA. Unlike traditional fillers that predominantly add volume, this injectable enhances skin quality by targeting free radicals, boosting hydration and promoting tissue regeneration. Experience the beauty of improved skin texture and vitality with this revolutionary treatment.
“Polynucleotides are a lovely new treatment modality that taps into the body’s own biological systems and helps to bio-regenerate the skin. It sends signals to the skin that result in the production of new collagen and elastin, helping the skin behave like it did in younger years. They give high-impact results in the softest and most natural way.” – Dr Johanna Ward, MA(OXON) MBBS DRCOG MRCGP Dip Clinical Dermatology – Cosmetic Doctor
Polynucleotides (like Ameela) activate various beneficial transformations in skin behaviour, including:
With its bio-remodelling properties, patients can enjoy the antioxidant and hydrating effect of the treatment with skin that looks and feels healthier.
At The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, our favoured brand of Polynucleotides is Ameela (previously called Nucleadyn), which can be used on the:
Polynucleotide injectables work by stimulating collagen and elastin production in the skin’s cells. Polynucleotide injections trigger two key transformations in skin behaviour. Initially, they act as wound healing agents, prompting intensive skin repair, which reduces scar tissue, including stretch marks, and smoothing uneven or textured patches on the skin. Polynucleotides also possess anti-inflammatory properties that stimulate cell renewal, promoting cell renewal, collagen synthesis, elasticity, and hydration, ultimately reducing wrinkles.
Unlike traditional fillers, polynucleotide injectables gradually dissipate after activating the skin’s regeneration, rather than remaining in place indefinitely.
Polynucleotides, an injectable bio-stimulator, feature stretchy molecules derived from fish DNA fragments, selected for their similarity to human DNA (fish are not harmed in this process). Unlike standard fillers, this groundbreaking treatment elevates the skin quality itself by combating free radicals, enhancing hydration, and stimulating tissue regeneration.
With Ameela, our Polynucleotide of choice at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, we would recommend having three treatments a month apart from one another. For maintenance sessions, we would recommend a top-up every 9 months for best results. This is all dependent on the patient and the concern area/s and our practitioners will provide you with all the advice you need.
Polynucleotides continue to stimulate the treatment area for up to 12 weeks following treatment, resulting in a gradual onset of effects. For the face and neck regions, improvements in skin quality and elasticity become apparent after a few weeks. Quicker results are usually noticeable in areas like the under-eyes.
As with all injectables, there can be the common side effects of slight swelling and bruising. This will be mild and only temporary. At your consultation, our practitioners will talk you through any and all concerns and questions you may have.
Polynucleotides offer natural-looking results with minimal risk. They enhance skin texture, address skin discoloration, and subtly increase volume and tightness, particularly under the eyes. With collagen-boosting properties and enhanced hydration, they act as a potent injectable moisture treatment. Suitable for both preventative care in younger skin and rejuvenation in aging skin, Polynucleotides serve as versatile solutions for skin health and vitality.
We proudly offer Ameela, formerly known as Nucleadyn. It’s a great Polynucleotide based skin booster which gives results of in-depth skin rejuvenation. You can find out more about the Ameela treatment here.

With specialised training, our practitioners administer treatments with precision, prioritising patient satisfaction and natural-looking results tailored to individual needs.
Polynucleotides are not a filler. Polynucleotides differ from fillers in that they don’t contain hyaluronic acid. Instead, they consist of biopolymers, which are stretchy molecules derived from fragments of fish DNA. Despite these distinctions, Polynucleotides synergize effectively with hyaluronic acid fillers, providing both immediate and long-term enhancements.
While hyaluronic acid skin boosters such as Profhilo, Teoxane Redensity 1, Belotero Revive, and Sunekos Performa primarily provide hydration, Polynucleotides go a step further by actually stimulating collagen and elastin production in cells. Unlike many skin boosters, polynucleotides are effective in areas like the eyes, lips and forehead where others may not reach.
Polynucleotides can be seamlessly integrated into popular skin booster treatments like Profhilo and Sunekos, as well as various other treatments we provide including our high-tech energy treatments.
Dr Johanna Ward favours a double eye treatment combining Thermage Eyes with Ameela. Dr Ward says:
“The brilliant thing about polynucleotides is that they can be combined with any type of energy treatment. This is particularly good for dark circles, soft hollowing under the eye and addressing the crepey tissue around the eye.”
Your practitioner will expertly advise you on the optimal time to introduce additional complementary treatments into your personalised plan.
