Hyperhidrosis, also commonly known as excessive sweating, is a condition that affects all genders.

There are two main types of hyperhidrosis: Focal hyperhidrosis and Generalised hyperhidrosis. Focial hyperhidrosis is more common, involving excessive sweating of the hands, feet and underarms. Generalised hyperhidrosis is less common and affects the whole body and is usually a result of an illness or infection.
Wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin injections) can be used to treat hyperhidrosis. Although we may think of botulinum toxin as a cosmetic treatment for wrinkles, it is a muscle relaxant that has been used by doctors in the UK for years to treat profuse sweating as well as other medical conditions.

Hyperhidrosis is a term for excess sweating and is treated with injections of botulinum toxin. This is an FDA-approved medicine that’s a muscle relaxant.

Botulinum toxin is a naturally purified protein that blocks the signals from the nerve endings to the sweat glands in the skin. This is used in the treatment of excessive sweating. This toxin is applied through micro injections into the skin targeting the sweat glands in the area which requires treatment. It normally takes 5-7 days for the muscle relaxant injections to work.
