FAQ

Tixel is a very versatile treatment system which uses a heated plate to deliver the required amount of heat to the surface of the skin very quickly, without damaging deeper skin tissues.

Tixel uses controlled pure heat energy to encourage the skin the to renew itself. The length of exposure will vary depending to your treatment plan. Tixel is a customisable treatment with three unique applications, allowing us to tailor the treatment to your skin’s needs, it can operate in three modes – ablative, non-ablative, and open channel.

  1. Ablative treatment: Ablative is the most intensive treatment, which can give effective results on skin tightening and scar treatment. Results will be similar to deep chemical peel or fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment with a minimum of 2-3+ days downtime.

  1. Non-Ablative treatment: Non-ablative treatment can ultimately give the same skin tightening result as the ablative treatment, but will require more treatments, but being less aggressive, requires no recovery time. Results will be similar to medium chemical peel but without the recovery time.

  1. “Open-Channel” treatment: The ‘Open-channel’ treatment makes the skin porous in order to allow penetration of topical treatments. This can be used in treatment of skin pigmentation problems such as Melasma or Hyperpigmentation.

Tixel is a novel device based on a thermal fractional skin rejuvenation technology that combines sophisticated motion and temperature control.

Tixel uses pure heat energy for the controlled evaporation of tissue. It is similar in effectiveness to fractional CO2 lasers, but significantly less pain and downtime. The treatment head is made up of a grid of 81 tiny pyramids, the fractional technology is used to transfer very precise thermal energy to the skin thereby creating an array of micro-channels to achieve skin tightening and skin resurfacing which are delivered without the need for anaesthetic due to the gentle nature of the treatment. The tip covers an area of just 1cm², which allows us to to pin-point and target the exact areas requiring treatment, including sensitive areas around the eyes and mouth.

Tixel is mainly used on the face, around the eyes (including the eyelids), neck folds, decolletage area, hands, arms and stomach. Tixel is perfect for someone who wants to achieve smoother, more glowing, healthier skin, especially around the eyes, without the traditional downtime of other treatments – normal activities can be resumed following treatment, with recommended regular use of a high factor sunscreen (50 SPF). Results are long-lasting provided all aftercare instructions are followed.

  • Tixel treatment options for the *improvement of:
Fine lines and wrinkles, skin discoloration, sun damaged skin, texture and skin tone, age spots, eye bags, drooping eyelids, acne scars, Active acne.

Tixel is a long-lasting treatment. After a recommended course of treatment, results are long-lasting provided all aftercare instructions are followed.

The downtime for a Tixel treatment is normally between 1-2 days to 1 week, however the amount of downtime can be controlled to meet patient’s expectations. For example, more gentle treatments will cause minimal downtime and the more aggressive treatments will extend the amount of downtime.

The number of treatments depends on several factors including the severity of the condition and the amount of downtime the patient is prepared to tolerate, but we normally recommend 1- 5 treatments every 6 to 8 weeks for the most effective results.
