How Morpheus8 Works

Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive fractional treatment that has efficiently combined microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy to remodel and contour the face and body.

At the head of the innovative device, there are 24 coated microneedles or micro pins to stimulate a natural healing response from our skin which in turn increases the elastin and collagen production – what we need to keep looking youthful and refreshed. At the same time, the radio frequency energy heats the tissue under the skin and simultaneously tightens connective fibres and moulds the fat to lift and firm the contours.

With a final treatment plan of 1-3 sessions over a time, the skins appearance will be smooth, sculpted and rejuvenated. This will be discussed with our expert practitioners during the consultation and post-treatment.

FAQ

The Cosmetic Skin Clinic only focuses on non-invasive skin treatments. Dr Tracy Mountford the founder and medical director who has been treating patients for over 25 years approves all new treatments after extensive research. She is the Key opinion leader for multiple non-invasive treatments such as Ultherapy® and CoolSculpting®. Her team of expert practitioners are best placed to give you the advice and guidance for optimal results.

Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive fractional skin treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy. This safe and effective treatment focuses on the deep layers of the skin by stimulating the body’s natural collagen and elastin building responses and tightening skin to be smooth and radiant again.

Morpheus 8, also known as a collagen-induction treatment, uses 24 microneedles and RF energy to renew the skin and encourage the natural anti-ageing process. Making this treatment perfect to give amazing results like tight smooth skin, reduced acne scars and improved skin tone that glows.

Visible skin tightening results can be seen within just a few days, but more noticeable results typically appear after three weeks. Improvements will continue over a period of three months after treatment.

Morpheus8 results can last up to 12 – 18 months. The maintenance of these results will depend on lifestyle factors including sun exposure and smoking. Patients may need annual follow up treatments to maintain and keep encouraging collagen production because the ageing process doesn’t stop.

Depending on what results you want from your Morpheus8 treatment journey, our practitioners will suggest if any maintenance sessions will be required after the three-month period to maintain your skin tightening results long term.

Morpheus8 is suitable for all skin types. Its fully inclusive colour-blind technology allows this treatment advantage to be suitable for all skin types. With its unique properties, even darker tones can be treated, meaning everyone can enjoy the benefits.

So, what does this speciality colour-blind technology mean for all skin types? This technology provides reassurance that no matter your skin tone, this treatment will be safe and effective. It importantly reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can commonly occur with other laser resurfacing treatments that aren’t right for every skin type.

Factors such as age, weight loss, weight gain and sun damage can put our appearance under a lot of pressure, leaving your skin loose, saggy and with an uneven texture.

If in need of treating fine lines and wrinkles, tightening the skin by creating tissue and collagen remodelling including on the cheeks and jowls, improving skin tone or treating acne scarring, Morpheus8 is perfect.  Many turn to Morpheus8 as the minimally invasive skin tightening option and to avoid surgery.

The Morpheus8 can be used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, tighten areas that have skin laxity on the face and body, improves skin tone and skin texture by also improving discoloured skin. This treatment is also great for anyone suffering from acne scars.

The Morpheus8 treatment time is between 30 minutes – 1 hour.

The Morpheus8 isn’t the same as microneedling, because it combines the benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency technology. The radiofrequency technology works with the microneedling aspect to tighten and plump up the skin. This combined technology provides a one-two punch to our skin, kicking it into gear leaving you with a firm and revitalised appearance.

Morpheus8 has become the treatment everyone wants to have. It has become popular with celebrities trying it and falling in love with their results. Celebrities like Judy Murray have turned back the clock on her skin ageing. After multiple sessions of Morpheus8 paired with a cosmeceutical product, she has had magnificent results that everyone is shouting about. Other celebrity fans of Morpheus8 include Amanda Holden, Kim Kardashian West, Paula Abdul, January Jones and makeup artist to the stars, Mary Phillips.

What makes the Morpheus8 different, is its 2-in-1 minimally invasive treatment that really gets results. With microneedling and radiofrequency energy targeting the subdermal layer of skin, the results are plumper, smoother and tightened skin.

With the Morpheus8, you can get youthful skin qualities again with substantial results, without going the invasive plastic surgery or facelift route.

Neogen Plasma and Morpheus8 shouldn’t be confused with one another as they have fundamental differences. For instance:

  • Both Morpheus8 and Neogen Plasma stimulate tissue and collagen remodelling however Morpheus8 has the extra element of microneedling technology.
  • Neogen Plasma is best suited for those with skin type I – III as a high energy treatment. It is possible to treat skin types I – VI whoever it would have to be at low-energy. Morpheus8 can be used on all skin types, including darker skin tones (skin type VI) thanks to its speciality inclusive colour-blind technology.
  • The expected downtime with a high-energy Neogen Plasma treatment can take up to 10 days. This can include a risk of significant peeling, and skin that is temporarily inflamed, itchy, dry, mildly swollen and tight during the peeling stage. Morpheus8 downtime is minimal with potential redness and miniscule pinprick bruising however this is very dependent on the patients sensitivity and the treatment area sensitivity.
  • Post-treatment, Neogen Plasma patients have said they have found the treatment to be a bit uncomfortable especially when it is at a high energy setting, with some saying they really felt the burn afterwards. It has commonly been described that the skin feels very burned during the downtime period.

The differences in expected downtime, discomfort, suitable skin types and even the extra microneedling technology that Morpheus8 has, makes it a clear winner in our eyes for being better than Neogen Plasma.

Yes, men who suffer from skin laxity, acne scarring, can have the Morpheus8 treatment and enjoy the results.

With the Morpheus8, downtime is minimal. So, we recommend that makeup can be applied 1 –2 days after the treatment. After your treatment there may be micro lesions a few days after, and for up to 1 week there may be slight redness.

Following treatment, there is minimal downtime, but the recovery time is dependent on the sensitivity and area of the treatment area sensitivity. The expected downtime also factors in the patient’s general standard of health and wellbeing.

After the treatment you may notice some potential redness and miniscule pinprick bruising. We recommend you avoid touching your treatment area to avoid irritating the skin and to prevent infection we also suggest not wearing make-up on that area for 24 hours.

At your consultation your practitioner will answer any questions you have and give you all the advice you need.

After your session, we recommend patients keep the treatment area moisturised and do their best to avoid exposing that area to direct sun. We highly recommend patients using a high SPF sunscreen every day on the area to be safe.

For best results, we initially recommend having between 1-3 sessions, however the number of treatment sessions required are also dependent on the skin being treated. Our expert clinic practitioners will have a discussion with you during your consultation about how many treatments you will need after they have assessed the treatment area and the results you want.

The Morpheus8 can be used to treat multiple areas on the face and the body that will benefit from sub-dermal renewal. Other areas that are suitable to be treated with the Morpheus8 are areas that suffer from wrinkles, acne scarring and discolouration. It should be noted that the Morpheus8 is commonly used to treat the lower face and neck, but it can be applied in other problem areas.

Yes, you can get Botox after Morpheus, however it is recommended you wait 2- 4 weeks post-Morpheus8. The timing of when you can get Botox after Morpheus8 can depend on various factors, such as your individual skin condition, the extent of the treatment. Our practitioners will provide you with guided recommendations for your Morpheus8 and Botox treatment plan.

These treatments can complement each other when used together, as Morpheus8 improves skin texture and quality, while Botox addresses dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement. To ensure safety and effectiveness, our practitioners will advise you on the timing.

Yes, Morpheus8 can be used as an add on to non-surgical treatments like dermal fillers, giving you an all-round youthful appearance. Simply ask your practitioner about this at your consultation.

Yes, Morpheus8 will work for all acne scars. This treatment can substantially improve the appearance of all types of acne, including the reduction in scar depth and even softening scar contours.

The process of Morpheus8 involves miniscule needles being inserted into the skin and held there for a short period of time. So, the treatment can feel uncomfortable but numbing cream local anaesthetic can be provided. However, our practitioners will discuss this discomfort and required pain relief at your consultation to make sure you are as prepared and comfortable as possible.
