Thermage FLX treatment uses radiofrequency technology which heats collagen rich layers deep within the skin. Collagen is what keeps out skin firm but as we age, our collagen production decreases which results in lines and wrinkles forming on the surface of the skin.
The heat separates water molecules from the fibrous collagen, which causes them to contract resulting in skin tightening.
In the months following treatment, the healing response of the skin will encourage new collagen growth which will then continue to tighten skin and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The new Thermage FLX treatment is designed to be more comfortable than Thermage CPT treatment. The new device has features such as a vibration mode and updated cooling burst which are used to help to make the treatment more tolerable by creating a distraction from the discomfort.
You will feel a heat sensation that will then be counteracted by the cooling sensation. The heating sensation is required to reach the deep layers of your skin and by feeling the heat it is a sign that the treatment has reached the most effective temperature to encourage skin tightening.
Each patient’s pain tolerance is different so treatment discomfort will vary a lot between patients and the areas they are having treated. Our experienced practitioners will ensure that the treatment is carried out in the most comfortable way possible and will check that you are happy with the level of heat sensation whilst also ensuring that the best results are being achieved.
Your skin may feel warm and appear red after Thermage FLX treatment, like it would after a workout or sauna, but this will only last for a few hours post treatment. There is no other downtime, and you will be able to resume your normal activities the same day.
Yes, Thermage FLX is a great combination treatment and depending on your desired results may be combined with dermal filler, laser skin resurfacing and wrinkle relaxing injection treatments.
A great combination treatment is Thermage FLX and Ultherapy. Thermage FLX is tightening the skin whilst Ultherapy is FDA-approved for skin lifting. Thermage FLX’s precise eye treatment heads make treating the entire eye area a lot more effective with better results when combined with Ultherapy’s brow lift treatment. The benefits of combination treatments can be discussed in consultation with your practitioner.
