Frown Lines

Frown lines, also known as glabellar lines, become more apparent and noticeable as the ageing process takes hold. A furrowed brow can make us look worried and stressed, even when we are not feeling this way. With our non-surgical frown line treatments, we can minimise the appearance of these lines to bring back a more youthful and refreshed look.

What are frown lines?

Frown lines are also known as glabellar lines, and appear on the face as deep vertical lines that show between your eyebrows and nose when you frown. Two facial muscles called the procerus and corrugators contract when you frown, which causes these deep creases to appear.

What causes frown line wrinkles?

As we age, frown lines can develop into deep frown lines that show through even when we are not frowning. This is mainly due to the fact that the two proteins responsible for our skin’s elasticity – collagen and elastin – are produced less and less by our bodies as we get older. Skin is no longer as supple and can’t spring back into place as quickly as it once did, particularly when we have stopped frowning. This makes frown lines appear as deep-set creases and wrinkles when we are not pulling any overt facial expression. The result is a tired and worn-out look that can make us look permanently upset or angry. Too much sun exposure, natural gravity, excess facial movements and a genetic predisposition are also factors in making natural frown lines become more apparent.

How to get rid of frown lines

There are multiple non-surgical techniques that we can use to reduce frown lines across the face. One of our most popular treatments is the anti-wrinkle injection, delivered in the form of a botulinum toxin injectable. Botulinum toxin injections can treat frown lines by reversibly relaxing facial muscles to smooth unwanted frown wrinkles and stop deeper lines from forming. Take a look at what other areas of the face can be treated with Botulinum Toxin Injections!

Botulinum toxin is a naturally purified protein often prescribed by doctors in the UK to treat medical conditions such as chronic migraines and is a popular and proven method for treating frown lines.

Administered properly by a fully qualified medical practitioner, botulinum toxin injections will visibly diminish frown lines but enable movement in your facial expressions to remain and avoid an unwanted frozen, ‘caught-in-the-headlights’ look. It normally takes 5-7 days for botulinum toxin frown line treatments to work.

At The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, we believe in helping you look great for your age in a completely natural and subtle way. We usually obtain good results after just a single injection. We also offer a range of additional options to target frown lines, including frown line fillers, furrowed brow treatment, and skin tightening treatments. Best way to get rid of frown lines

There are multiple techniques that we can use to reduce the appearance of frown lines in the face. By having a detailed consultation with one of our expertly qualified practitioners, we can assess your face and recommend the best treatment for deep frown lines to suit your own individual needs. While botulinum toxin injections are the most popular treatments for frown lines and furrowed brows, you may also benefit from a combination of methods to maximise results. Here are some of our most used frown line treatments:

Frown Line Filler

Frown lines can be smoothed using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which add volume to the deep frown line creases to minimise their appearance. When used in combination with anti-wrinkle injections, the results can be impressive.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift

At The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, we specialise in Ultherapy skin tightening treatments, which can be used to enhance the appearance of deep-set frown lines. We have been voted as the Number 1 Ultherapy treatment provider in the UK for 7 years in a row, and our Ultherapy non-surgical brow lift is one of our top treatments. Using Ultherapy’s transformational ultrasound technology, we can reboot natural collagen production in a targeted way around a person’s frown lines to smoothen their appearance and tighten up deep wrinkles. Fresh collagen stores are built up gradually in the skin after the treatment, resulting in smoother and tighter skin for up to 2 years after the treatment.

Thermage for Frown Lines

Thermage CPT is a radiofrequency technology that uses heating and cooling sensations to stimulate natural collagen production in the skin. It can be used to treat frown lines by strengthening and tightening the skin in this area, with results that can last for up to 2 years after just one frown line treatment session.
