And the award for BEST tweakment goes to…

THE C&TH TWEAKMENT GUIDE

September/October 2021

The Country and Town House beauty experts aren’t wrong when they say “Nature knows best. But science has a few party tricks…” Their beauty experts have tried and tested 16 of the best face and body treatments, and rated as the best at number 2 on the list is Ultherapy at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic.

What does Ultherapy treat?

Ultherapy is best for “sculpting and tightening the skin on the face and decolletage”.

What happens during an Ultherapy treatment?

The concept of Ultherapy is that it “harnesses ultrasound to deliver energy into the deeper layers of the skin to tighten and firm. It works by creating micro injuries deep in the skin to kick-start the regeneration of collagen and elastin. This reverses (and prevents) sagging skin, skin laxity, turkey necks and drooping eyelids.” For the application of any numbing cream, you’ll need to arrive 30 minutes before your appointment.

“Once you’re on the treatment bed the practitioner uses the Ultherapy machine to assess the quality of your skin and the depth it would be most beneficial to treat at. The zones of the treatment area are then marked out in a grid and the applicator is moved over the area with one zap applied to each square until the whole area is covered.”

How painful is Ultherapy?

The pain factor “depends on your pain threshold, but most people agree it’s not pleasant. While the individual zaps are totally bearable, after repetition they become wearing and a little uncomfortable.” It’s normal to feel slight discomfort but don’t let this deter you. Our practitioners will advise you on how best to manage any discomfort, and they may prescribe any painkillers before your procedure to make your treatment as comfortable as possible so you can look forward to the end results.

How much downtime is needed?

There is no downtime and you can return to your normal activities straight away after treatment, but you can “expect minor redness that fades within hours”.

How are the results?

“The results are subtle, but that’s what makes it good. Expect to leave with skin instantly tighter and glowier, though the real impact takes a few months to kick in and the long-term benefits can last up to a year or more.”
