Learn about Ultherapy and Thermage: two groundbreaking non-surgical facelifts in Buckinghamshire

By Dr. TRACY MOUNTFORD, MBBS MBCAM

Age tends to creep upon us. One minute we are enjoying the splendours of our youth and the next we are battling with the middle-age spread. If you do not feel the age you look, why not shave off a few years with non-surgical facelifts in Buckinghamshire?

Our practice, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, employs practitioners trained in all advanced methods of facial rejuvenation. What can we offer you? A younger and refreshed face, absent of wrinkles, lines and other visible signs of ageing, using advanced technology combined with the incredible skills of our staff.

Are non-surgical facelifts in Buckinghamshire needle and scalpel free?

With the advent of non-surgical, minimally invasive treatments, the choice to reverse the effects and signs of ageing is now possible without having to consider ‘going-under-the-knife’.

That said, there are types of non-surgical facelifts in Buckinghamshire that are even less invasive than others, including Thermage and Ultherapy. In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive review of both.

Thermage and Ultherapy

Using advanced technology, Thermage and Ultherapy use heat energy to penetrate the deeper layers of the dermis – the purpose of which is to stimulate new collagen to the face and skin – but that is where their similarities end.

  • Energies

Our physicians, administering a Thermage procedure, use radiofrequency, while Ultherapy uses ultrasound imaging with visualisation.

Why the difference? While their respective functions are to strengthen the skin from within different areas of the face and body. Thermage treats skin laxity and tired baggy eyes but, not being limited to the face, also treats skin laxity on the body areas such as the abdomen, arms and knees.

On the other hand, Ultherapy is the only non-surgical procedure that is FDA-cleared to tighten and improve the overall appearance of the skin in the neck, chin and brow areas.

  • Treated areas

As we mentioned previously, the areas of treatment are different. Thermage treats several regions of the body, including the face, around the eyes, abdominals and other areas, such as the thighs. If there are body parts you would like treated that we have not mentioned, book a consultation with us to see whether it is possible. Ultherapy is more limiting, in that the main areas typically treated include the brow, chin, neck, chest and buttocks.

Thermage and Ultherapy Treatment – Is it painful?

It would be untrue to say that you will not feel pain during either procedure, but with both types of non-surgical facelifts in Buckinghamshire, you will feel significantly less pain.

Thermage is an older procedure, said to be more uncomfortable as a result of the amount of heat that is used. However, some clinics have incorporated cooling into the treatment, which is administered before the start of the treatment. The cold reduces the pain by numbing it.

Ultherapy is said to be less painful, although you might feel some tingling as the energy rays reach your skin. These sensations are controlled with a local anaesthetic that we provide.
