Daily Mail Nip & Tuck – How Old Is Too Old For Cosmetic Treatments?

The Daily Mail Nip & Tuck 1st May 2017

The Nip & Tuck articles by Dr Tracy Mountford appear weekly, in print and online in the Monday ‘Inspire’ section. In this week’s column, a reader asks if she is too old for cosmetic treatments:

How old is too old for cosmetic treatments?

Many people ask if they are too old for cosmetic procedures. Whilst non-surgical treatments, such as injectables, carry little risk, in reality most cosmetic procedures deliver better results on younger skin. This is because the ageing process has not had an opportunity to take hold. So there will be fewer lines and wrinkles, less fat loss and skin laxity.

However, just because you’re in your 70s does not mean you should give up. You can opt for a combination of light fillers, skin tightening to lift the face and/or laser treatment to improve skin texture. This will make you look more refreshed and attractive without any obvious signs of having had anything done.

The key is to be realistic and for your cosmetic doctor to be honest with you. We cannot reduce every line on a face or give a 70-year old the jawline of a woman in her 40s, but we can enable you to enjoy the way you look – whatever age you are.
