This Morning: Fox Eye facelift trend

This Morning

June 2022

Joining Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby is The Cosmetic Skin Clinic’s Dr Pamela Benito. Dr Pamela Benito takes part in the cosmetic conversation as a qualified thread lift practitioner to highlight the problem with unregulated thread lift treatments out there, what can be done to be safer in your choice, and more.

Philip and Holly explain the trend of Fox Eye Facelifts, and how this non-surgical tweakment is associated with celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner and social media stars. When not done correctly and without the proper aftercare, things can go wrong. Facial aesthetics practitioner, Dr Pamela Benito is asked about her experience, and how safe can this popular procedure be.

Can Thread Lifts be safe?

Yes, they can be safe. Dr Benito recommends that patients “do their research to find the right practitioner who is experienced enough and use the right products. Mainly because of quality and safety. But it can be done safely, yes.”

At the end of the day, when it comes to any medical procedure, there is always “potential risk and complications. You should always be aware of the potential risk” before committing to any treatment.

Are Thread Lifts unregulated?

“Sadly, yes.” Dr Benito explains that in the UK, “dermal fillers and a lot of procedures are still unregulated.”

Dr Benito is hopeful that Thread Lifts and other treatments will be on the right path of being regulated. She also says that practitioners should give “the consent and aftercare beforehand” so the right decision can be made before going ahead with the treatment.

How do you feel about online social media facial trends?

Dr Benito reveals she stays “away from beauty trends personally.” She offers thread lifts, non-surgical facelifts, eyebrow lift, and neck lifts. However, if a patient calls asking “do you offer fox eye, we say no we don’t offer fox eye.” Why? “Only because we want to enhance someone’s beautiful features but not change it” like Holly said.

What is your advice for someone who wants to get thread lifts done?

Go to a clinically qualified practitioner who knows exactly what they are doing. Dr Benito also suggests when it comes to recommendations or word of mouth, that “it is always important to do your own research, look at the doctors profile, look at their experience, their career, their expertise and then go for a consultation and have a thorough assessment.”

What threads do you use?

“I personally use PLLA. So, they work very similar in the sense of tightening and lifting skin and promoting collagen type 1 in this case. These particular threads have a different mechanism of action, so you’ll see the little cones in them. And those bidirectional cones make sure they hold the thread in place, so it doesn’t move. Also, they promote that stimulation of collagen. They last up to 24 months, so up to 2 years.”
