By Dr. TRACY MOUNTFORD, MBBS MBCAM

Like most things in life, when you are researching a treatment, you want to know as much as possible before deciding if it is the right choice for you. Nowhere is this more important than in the area of cosmetic treatments; you want to ensure that you understand the procedure in its entirety, how long it will take and if there are any risks before committing to undertaking it.

If you want to tone up your figure to create a sleeker look and have tried every diet or exercise regime that exists, you may feel it is time to try a different approach. Thankfully, at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, we can offer you an FDA approved, non-surgical option to get rid of that stubborn fat.

At The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, our team regularly performs cryolipolysis, or CoolSculpting in London, which helps banish stubborn fat without any surgical intervention. A straightforward procedure that can take less than an hour, this treatment works with your body’s natural processes to remove fat cells from under the skin, leaving you with a leaner and more toned look.

Initial consultation

When you choose to undertake CoolSculpting in London, our team at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic will invite you for a consultation prior to the treatment. At this consultation, we will ask questions about your general health, enquire about medical conditions and assess your overall suitability for the treatment. If we deem that you are a suitable candidate, we will then discuss with you the areas of the body that you want to have treated.

This will allow both our team and you to make an assessment of the amount of time required to successfully perform the procedure and, of course, to get a more accurate estimate of the cost. We will also use this opportunity to show you the equipment we will be using and of course, to answer any questions that you have. After this, we will choose a date to begin treatment and all you will have to do is tick the days off on your calendar.

The treatment

When you arrive at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, our team will expose the area that is to be treated and will then press the applicator to the area, cooling it to 4 degrees Celsius. Once we deem this area cool enough, our proprietary vacuum will gently pull the treated area between two cooling plates, eliminating any heat from the area and killing the fat cells under your skin. Depending on the size of the area being treated, this process may last anywhere between 1-4 hours to complete.

Aftercare

Once you leave our surgery, the treated area may appear swollen and bruised; this is normal. Our team will have provided you with a customised aftercare plan, involving massage techniques, to help reduce the swelling and improve the effectiveness of this treatment. Bruising should subside within around 3 weeks.
