What is ablative laser treatment?

Ablative treatment targets the deep dermal layers beneath the skin. This usually requires a lot more downtime as the skin is required to heal itself which can take 2-4 weeks. Our new Halo™ treatment can perform an ablative treatment without the extensive downtime which means you get longer lasting results and return to everyday activities within days rather than weeks.

What is non-ablative laser treatment?

Non-ablative treatment targets the epidermis layer of the skin which is the surface of the skin. This usually means multiple treatments are required to get the best results, but the downtime is minimal.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser combines both ablative and non-ablative treatment styles which are applied to the skin at the same time.

What is Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser treatment?

Halo™ is a hybrid fractional laser treatment that uses thermal energy to treat the skin. The top layer of skin is exfoliated whilst the deeper layers of the skin are targeted with thermal wavelengths to stimulate deep collagen and elastin production. Patients may experience redness, swelling, and tenderness post-treatment for 1-3 days but after that, most patients feel comfortable to return to their everyday activities such as returning to work, or socialising with family and friends.  Halo™ i offers patients the best possible results with the least amount of recovery time that is often required after laser treatments.

Before & Afters

FAQ

  1. When you arrive at our clinic for your Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser treatment you will firstly have a topical anaesthetic applied to the treatment area and be given an area to relax in for around 30 minutes whilst that takes effect.
  2. Your face will be measured with motion-tracking technology to ensure that the treatment is performed evenly.
  3. Your skin will then be cleansed, and protective eye shields will be applied to protect your eyes.
  4. The Halo™ handpiece will then be applied to the skin and treatment will start. The hand piece includes integrated cooling which helps with patient comfort during treatment by distributing cold air across the treatment area.

Halo also has built in Dynamic Thermal Optimisation (DTO) which automatically adjusts the power of each pulse to match the temperature of the skin, so each pulse is very safe and precise.

  1. The treatment takes around 30 minutes to perform. The practitioner will treat each area by rolling the handpiece of the skin until the Halo™ system treatment recognises that treatment in that area is complete. Once complete, the handpiece is returned to the device and post treatment balm and SPF will be applied to your skin.
  2. Your practitioner will then discuss aftercare with you and what to expect post-treatment.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser works by using two different types of lasers light -2940nm ablative laser and 1470nm non-ablative laser. As it is a fractional treatment, only specific portions of the skin are treated. The ablative side of the treatment targets the deep dermis layers of the skin to encourage new collagen production (neo-collagenesis) and the non-ablative laser breaks down micro laser channels in the epidermis to tone and improve the texture of the surface of the skin.

The best suited patients for Halo™ treatment are those who are experiencing areas of pigmentation, sun damage or uneven skin texture. Patients must be in good health, contraindications of Halo™ treatment include patients who have been taking Accutane or patients who are on anti-coagulant medication. Our practitioners will require a full medical history from anyone who wishes to undertake treatment at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic.

Your skin will go through a healing process following Halo™ treatment. During this time, the treated area of skin may start to look bronze before starting to peel or flake revealing fresh and brighter skin beneath. As time goes on, the skin will start to become smoother, firmer, vibrant, and clearer.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser is one of the most comfortable laser treatments. It is not known to cause pain.  Patients should expect to experience a level of discomfort such as a warmth or prickling sensation during treatment.  The areas treated may feel tender in the hours following treatment for up to 1-2 days.

The results from Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser are often noticed after 2-5 days with patients commenting on how smooth and youthful their skin felt. The results from Halo™ treatment will continue to improve as the skin will go through a dermal regeneration phase where collagen production is boosted.

The results from the Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser treatment is designed to last for years to come as the treatment encourages new collagen production which will work to consistently improve skin condition from within. To help maintain your results we recommend protecting your skin from the sun with UV sunscreen and having regular Halo™ treatments every 6-12 months.
